Speedometer and digital display not working

Hey,

New rider here with a question. Just got a 2006 C50 and its been riding great, the only issue is that the speedo and the digital display (fuel gauge, clock, odometer, trips) aren't working. The backlighting, neutral, highbeam, and signal lights on the unit all work fine. The speedo sensor on the front wheel is brand new. Supposedly when you start the bike the speedo needle is supposed to cycle and the N, F, and Temp lights should come on for ~3 seconds. This also doesnt happen.

My buddy (lots more experience than me) and I took the gauge cluster off the bike and opened up the unit (after checking the new and old sensor cables (by spinning them manually) and cleaning (electronic contact cleaner) and checking all of the wiring connection. We checked the harness where the speedo connects and determined its definitely drawing strong power and the wires seem pretty snug in there.

When we opened up the gauges however, we found that the rubber seal was not sitting right (had a big kink in it right near the top of the unit), there was dirt that had settled at the bottom of the unit inside the (should have been) sealed case, and the screws holding the curcuit board on as well as the surface of the circuit board has some visible corrosion).

Is it likely the actual gauge is the issue or could it still be a wiring issue somewhere else on the bike. I found some replacements on ebay but since you can't return electronic parts I was waiting until i was more confident that this is the issue.

Thanks,
C

Check and replace the fuse that is marked signal. Don't ask why but it could be the culprit. I lost 1000 kms because of this. Finched a 6000 km ride with no speedo, and brake lights. I thought if the signals worked it wouldn't be the fuse but it was. It as also on a 2006.

Yeah I had seen that in a previous post somewhere else so I replaced that fuse along with several others (happened to have an assorted box of fuses lying around) no luck unfortunately

Hi, mine also 2006. Today on freeway, when the speed just reached 70 mph, speedometer suddenly went out of function. Somehow turn signal indicator was still working. When I got back home I checked all fuses, they looked all OK. I checked every switch on handle bar, all but for horn switch worked perfect. Where else should I check to solve this problem? Thanks for your input in advance.

Had it been fixed since then? How did you solve this problem?
Today on freeway, it suddenly went out of order. I don't have speedometer, digital odometer, oil pressure light, temperature, and neural indicator. Somehow turn signal indicator still working. Horn is not working as well. I don't know when it happen because I rarely use horn.
I need help.
Thank you.
