What year dj drive will work on my 01 vl800

I have an 01 vl800 looking to dj drive mod. What years will fit?

Any VL1500 or VL1400 drive will work, but they require modification to fit the VL800 frame.

It's a simple mod. Just have to elongate the 3 holes that the pumpkin bolts to. A file and drill makes it quick. Just take your time and check fitment often.

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.

The drive shaft needs to be modified and a new wheel spacer made. If you try to cram an unmodified drive in, it will ruin your transmission.

As Skrap said, the driveshaft needs to be modified, the existing bushing needs to be shortened, depending on whether you get a VL1400 or VL1500 drive you may need an axle bushing to downsize the hole as well.

Then yes, drill the existing holes to 9/16" or elongate them.

Corey on this site sells drop in ready units that are already modified and have all the bushings. You just have to open the holes up and drop it in.
