Do I need to do anything special to run 12v led lights?

Are you talking accent lights or turnsignals and such?

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.

It depends what you are adding: there could be relays involved, incompatible LED bulbs, too much current load, etc.
Rule of thumb: Anything electric you add, make sure it is fused in one way or another: either tap into a fused line, or if connecting directly to battery - add an in-line fuse. Even better: add a fuse on your accessory anyway, so you don't run into melting the wiring or loosing a crucial system if the accessory misbehaves.

If you're planning on accent lights, make sure you run them thru a relay and have an inline fuse.
If you're changing to LED turnsignals, you'll have to either add resistors or change to an LED flasher to stop the hyperflashing.

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.
