Troll bell? Gremlin bell?

Bought my c50 last October and was getting ready to go for a ride yesterday. Found a little bell dangling from the right side floor board. Did some research and found out all sorts of **** on these bells. The bell was on the bike when I bought it from a dealer. I cut it off after reading that it had to be given to me directly by someone otherwise it'll do the opposite of what it should be doing. Did I just **** myself? And if so is this like breaking a mirror bad luck, or clubbing a baby seal in front of a black cat with my umbrella indoors?

I'm not a superstitious person, but I've kept one on my bike. Figure it doesn't hurt. Anyway, if you believe in the superstition, from my understanding they are all good luck, just varying degrees. If you buy it for yourself it has only a slight bit of luck. If it's given to you by someone who doesn't ride it has a bit of luck to it. The most "good ju-ju" would come from a bell given to you by a fellow biker who knows and loves you.

Anyway, going off of the "rules", I would say that if it was left on the bike by the previous owner, it was meant to continue to protect the bike and whoever rode it. I would have left it on there.

At one point we had a gremlin bell swap thread on here. That said, if you're interested, PM me your mailing address and I'll be happy to send you a bell that you can add to your bike to keep you safe. I'm not sure where a bell coming from me would sit on the scale, but it can't be too far down.

Whiskey and I swapped bells several years ago and I still have mine on my bike. I think the good luck follows the bike, not necessarily the biker, but the two are not mutually exclusive.
I would have kept it on there, and as you ride, you can sing "My ding a ling".

Ok..I was NOT home-schooled, but that is neither hear nor their.

I’m not superstitious either, but it certainly can’t hurt anything. I probably wouldn’t have cut it off, but it’s a little late for that now. Lol

I have a special bell, given to me by my wife this past Christmas. I put it on my bike over the winter and can’t wait to take it out on my first ride. I have a bell to give to my son when he starts riding and one for his best friend who is a good friend of the family.

Whether it does anything or not really isn’t critical to me. It’s a nice idea and accessory for the bike.

My bike came with a bell. I just left it alone and haven't had any problems.

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.

I just bought a bike from a great guy who pretty much has ridden his whole life. Got the bike home and I was putting a rub on the bike....when I was on the floor working on the tires....I noticed this nice little worn bell hanging directly on the bottom just 2 inches off the made me smile....

I would say, leave it on there until someone gives you one.
