.5 oversized pistons in an 800 makes it a?

I recently rebuilt my engine. A 2004 Vz800. New valves, oilers, springs the works. Also bored it out and put in .5 oversized pistons in it because I had low compression and was burning oil. My question is, what size is my engine now? I'm going from the stock 805cc to...? Anyone happen to know roughly how much power I will be gaining while I'm at it?

Original total displacement is 805.1cc/49.1cu/in

New total displacement with the oversized bore is 814.8cc/49.7cu/in

Original compression - 9.4:1

Your new compression ratio is 9.5:1

Power gain... you can let go an extra week between shaves and not lose any performance at the end of the week....

The difference between when it was new and now is substantially less than the difference between your worn engine and the rebuilt engine.

You will be gaining little to no power over stock just with the new pistons. With the pipes, jet kit and intake, you will probably gain 4 or 5 hp.

You would be much better off (not to mention money ahead) to abandon this project and just get a donor engine. Engines from salvage bikes usually don't run much more than $1200, which is why basically nobody (other than yourself) ever bothers with the expense of fixing these motors.

I thought about buying a motor before I started. It WAS going to be cheaper for me to just rebuild the one I have. Then it fell off the table and boosted my over all cost by $300. When I finish the rebuild I will be sitting at $1200 even after it falling off the table. The difference between me rebuilding my engine and just buying a doner engine is ive spent $1200 and have essentially a brand new engine that I know will last me years to come, as compared to buying a doner engine for $1200 like you say, I know nothing about it and might not run a full season before I end up having to do a rebuild on it anyway. Id rather rebuild mine.

Well - at this point, even a free donor 2002 engine that only needs a valve job due to a burnt valve will not change your money position with respect to the old engine....

I live about 2 hours from you and have exactly that....

Given the overall condition of my engine, I would hate to see it cannibalized for a few parts.

if I found a free doner engine, I would take everything from the crank case up from mine and drop it on the doner. Then I wouldent have to do anything else! I'd never expect someone to just give me one though. If you where willing, I'd make the drive for sure!

Well, this is embarrassing.... I can’t read... the broken engine is a VZ800 AND MINE IS A VL800.... NO WAY IT WILL WORK. I NEED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL OR SOMETHING....

Unless you have an Intruder or S50 (VZ800), none of the parts discussed in this thread will work on a Volusia or C50 (VL800). They are completely different bikes.
