There is a way to set the valves without using a feeler gauge of any kind.

That method should only be used to get you in the ball park for using the feeler gauges.... NO accuracy with this method.

I used that method when I adjusted mine but double checked with feeler gauge and the adjustments were not consistent so I used feeler gauges instead to be more accurate.
