Hello!

Hello, VL forums!

My name is Max, I'm 23, and from Southwest Florida. I've wanted a bike since I was about 18, but it was never really feasible. That all just changed! I just got my first motorcycle on the 30th of June - a 2002 VL800. I got a pretty good deal on it, and am excited to go down the rabbit hole of riding.

Truth be told, I (as many) registered so I can ask a few questions in regards to a few issues I've been having, but I'm also looking forward to meeting you all, and maybe riding in the future.

Cheers!

The only thing I've done so far is take off the stock turn signals up front, and take off the bags and bag holders

Welcome from West Texas. Hope I don't sound like an old man giving you a lecture but here goes. Hopefully you're going to be safe and have many years of riding. Take the msf course. You're going to need the front blinkers for your safety. And you're probably going to want the saddlebags just because they're convenient. That's all, I'm off my high horse. It's a great-looking bike and I hope you have a great time on it and learn many useful things on this site. Welcome once again

Welcome from Kennesaw GA!

I'll second the suggestion for taking the MSF course if you haven't already.

Suggestions acknowledged!

I'll be in WA this weekend, but the MSF is in my sights for next weekend. Here's hoping the years don't get cut short!

Welcome from Boston (for now)! Great to have you here. You'll find plenty of friendly folks with tons of experience and advise. I'll add my support for the MSF course and practice advise. Greetings from Indiana

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.
