2000 Intruder 800. Hi All.

Hi All,
Purchased a 2000 Intruder 800 with 35K miles in rough shape. It was ride-able and had loud pipes. Paid 500 for it. But it was so ugly with a duct tape seat, signals hanging off, paint peeling faded and just ugly. I hid it in the shed so the neighbors wouldn't see it. It's the most comfortable bike I've owned. The only thing I don't like is the gearing. 65MPH and it sounds like its going to come unglued.I basically just use it around town no highways.

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.

Welcome from Kennesaw GA!

They do seem to be missing a sixth gear. If it becomes that much of an issue for you, search the site for information on a "DJ Drive". They make the bike a lot more tolerable at high speeds.

It is a 2000 Intruder (VS800). It uses a different final drive and drive shaft than the 2001 and up Intruder/C50 (VL800). A standard "DJ Drive" won't work.

Good to know. I was looking at used drives on ebay. Since I'm having an issue with oil leaking out of mine.
