Mentioned to the wife, Barb, recently about possibly bringing back to life the MayBay Rally. While never really a highly attended rally, for some of us, it served as a great way to begin the new riding season every year, sharing a weekend here in New England reconnecting with the family here.

While it was discontinued for reasons not important to rehash here, the memory’s of members no longer with us who did attend and were also instrumental in the birth of this event, make it more the reason to add this event back to our yearly meets.

That said, I’ve decided to try to revitalize this event….with a new name...new theme...new location.

Name: MayFest 2019

Where: Kitzhof Inn...West Dover, Vt (on Rt 100)

When: May 17-19 2019

Theme: Meet, Greet, Eat & Ride...Party too

Barb surprised me this weekend with a reservation there to get a look at a place Pete recommended. We spent friday nite there, met and spoke with the owner saturday who gave me a tour and what he has found works for groups like ours. Small place...23 rooms, comfy, cozy, in a setting that offers an inside gathering room with a fireplace and bar setup for guest use in the event of inclement weather or if we just feel the need to bring sitting together indoors. An outside firepit is available, outside seating, also a hot tub and pool, and the option of the owner including a bbq dinner with various themes to pick from if we decide to go that route. We enjoyed a nice hearty breakfast saturday morning in the dining room (on their schedule 7:30-9 am), not yours ...for the late sleepers...that comes included in the room rate.

Downside is no fridge or micro in any of the rooms, but there is a community fridge available for anyone needing to use one....or just bring a cooler. Pleasant english folk who also ride, Simon, the owner offered to lead a ride if need be, they seem to understand the concept of motorcyle gatherings.

Should there be a need for an overflow, which I don’t expect there will be, there are many other options nearby available. Grocery store next door available for snacks and liquids and close enough to local eating establishments.

Waiting on more info from the owner, as per rates, which as of now will be at this years pricing. Depending on whether or not we choose the food option and which option we choose will determine the pricing, he initially mentioned something in the burger choice would be $12 per, vs $28 for the ribs/chicken choice...again just something to consider or its just chow wherever you choose.

Expecting to hear sometime this week or I’ll give them a call to get some final pricing...early I know but never early enough to lock in a place we like to have to ourselves. Like I always say….if you plan it...some will come.

we are doing well, riding, working and more riding when possible. We never seem to get below white river junction, we tend to go either east or west. We did a week in Maine/Bar Harbor 3 weeks ago, it was a fantastic trip! Not much else planned, we were looking at a Bentley's trip this weekend but the weather went to **** up here.

don't know where its going to be at this point...left there Saturday the 25th with the understanding he was going to email me the info...room rates...bbq rates...etc...never heard from him so last week contacted him thru his web site reminding him about our discussion...that was last Saturday...again...nothing...figured ok ...holiday weekend...give it a few more days...Tuesday sent another request..

Sent you a email last week regarding the total price it would be for friday & Saturday nites for may 17-19 2019. We, my wife and I, spent a nite recently in your place and I spoke with Simon regarding our mc group having a rally there. We spoke about a BBQ also which a this time we, the group, haven't decided yet. People need to know what the total costs for the rooms including tax will be so they can decided whether they will choose to come with the group. Right now we have quite a few waiting to reserve as soon as we get the rates. Hopefully I hear from you soon as we are looking now to begin our rally plans. Have a nice day..

here it is...saturday...still nothing...thought about calling but at this point have pretty much rather go where customer service is a priority...at least an acknowledgement of some sort would have been somewhat acceptable for the lack of any response...told him we want the entire place...that in itself should have left some sort of a reminder in his head to make sure he lets me know...obviously not the case...at this point I have started my search for another place...seems in that area something is going on as attempts of finding a place for a group is finding limited availability...so the search has now expanded to mass, ct, and theres this place in Lake George... got ya.....also looking into NY which on my way home from the OFest I may plan a route allowing me to check out different locations...

glad I started this now...so until something is set in stone, aside from the dates listed, the location will be my new retirement project...should have some idea by the end of the month.

so it seems we are back on for here...I just booked and the rate that came up is for the normal rate...make sure you put in Volusiariders in the organization part...this way they can make the adjustment and have the correct rate available upon billing. Glad this is resolved...we can decide on the food part at a later date. Feel free to ask any questions so I can contact Simon. I am going to call him tomorrow to confirm our needing as many rooms as possible.

trying to figure out how I never received any of his 3 emails, a closer look shows he included some (') marks on each end of my email address...something tells me that's where the problem lies...I mentioned that to him in my follow up message. Hopefully that's where the problem began...otherwise I'll be looking towards a certain member here from Pa

who always factors into these type scenerios. Just one of those

things as usual.

don't know yet...depends on what the group wants...for now its important we book the rooms so he knows we want to come...we can decide on the food as we get closer to the rally...figure by march/april.

Booked!!!
I called on the phone, no deposit was needed, just a credit card to hold the room.

Thanks Dennis
