So how fast do you cruise?

The wife and I just took a trip Savannah and back this past weekend. I stayed in the 80-85mph range. It was a big adjustment for me to cruise at higher speeds on a cruiser as I always felt I would blow the motor up.

All the way up to the flow of traffic and then about 5mph faster if I can.

The C50 engine will start to scream louder and louder as you get it past 60mph but it can handle it. At around 85 you were pretty much at the top end of speed on the bike but you weren't doing any damage to it. There's a rev limiter, trust me on that one :wink2:, so you can't push it past the red line, and it won't go fast enough to hit the rev limit in 5th gear. Let not your heart be troubled, you're safe no matter how you ride.

I ride at whatever speed it takes to find my pocket where there's no one around me to take me out.
Then I just stay at whatever speed it takes to maintain the pocket.
Thanks it upgraded from an 1100 so it's been a blast to have the extra engine

I usually ride (and drive) 5-7 miles over the limit. If traffic is moving faster, I will go whatever speed the traffic is going, no matter how fast that is. I have jumped in a line of cars moving faster and cruised at whatever speed that was 90+. I am too afraid of a ticket and the endless chatter from my family for cruising in triple digits; my bike will do it. Problems on the freeway, riding into strong winds and having the c50 full throttle to go 65-70 with traffic whizzing by me is a big reason I sold the c50. I loved the c50 for riding around town and hitting the local highway roads for a relaxing cruise about.

When I am travelling Interstates on the C50, or any motorcycle for that matter, my technique is to look for holes in the traffic, and stay in them. This means that with a 70 speed limit my speed will usually be between about 65 and 75, occasionally a bit faster. The goal is to keep moving whatever the speed, and stay out of the crowds. There's no question the C50 is starting to work some at 75, but it's still pulling strong.

That's how I roll too.

Cars certainly tend to travel in little gaggles. I find the spaces between them and settle in for a nice ride.

I tend to go with the flow, not trying to pass everyone and not being a rolling roadblock either. I've ridden with others who just seem physically and mentally incapable of not passing every car in front of them. I found it exhausting rather than exhilarating...It just started to wear on me.

I like to cruise.

Incidentally, my C50 has zero problems doing the posted 80mph speeds for hours at a time when I ride the plains. Even with with all my camping gear on board.
My old 600c.f. Honda Shadow had no problem, either.

My commute is round trip, 76 miles, with 60 on superslab...I ride between 65-70mph on the ODO...the 16 miles not on superslab, the road is blind curves and hills, so about 50mph for this section...Now with over 100,000 miles on the bike....havent ridden it in 2 weeks though...had a medical emergency and a pacemaker inserted in my chest a week after I rolled over the odo....no commuting on the bike tomorrow (doctor's appointment) and no commuting on Friday (forecast is 1-2 inches of rain on Friday).
