Wink So I went to look at a mc today...

well not really looking to replace mine or add one to the family...the place was hosting a free lunch scenario for anyone coming by to visit their showroom...was suppose to go last weekend but my mc was in for service so I went today instead with a fellow member here. Great day for a ride...good company...did I mention free lunch....

Shame I missed last week...was their demo day...and after looking at the selection of mc's they had on the floor it would have been fun to try several out.

So after enjoying the free lunch... not bad either...we spent the next hour inside checking out their line of Ducati's and Moto Guzzi's.. in all honesty I know nothing about either brand...then again I know nothing about anything.... but what I do know is I will come back and demo a few the next time they have their demo day... would be nice to give the c90 some company in the garage.

May never happen...then again I always said my next ride would be something in a sport tourer style... while the wife leans towards a wing.....easy solution...she buys it...its a wing...I buy it...it won't be a wing...wonder how many nickels and pennies I have in the secret stash buried in the back yard.....

Good to hear you have an interest enough to be considering something else. It all depends on what you intend to do with it. Two up, the wing offers everything the two of you could want. The price of it being the extra weight to contend with. I'm quite happy with the FJR. It goes as fast as I want it to without feeling like I'm beating on it. It is a little cramped with the Mrs on board. I may explore moving the trunk back to give us a little more space. It is a bit tall and one has to be mindful with parking lot manuevers. That goes for just about anything that isn't a scooter!
The newest Wing has less weight and better handling than any previous model if I read the reviews correctly. The price of them is the obstacle. For us Canadians, having more than one bike insured is quite costly and I have to stick with one that will do everything. I can't justify the expense and space for two bikes.

Sport Touring is the way to go and the Wing is an awesome choice.

actually strongly considered a FJR before I replaced my accident totaled 05 c90 several years ago...assumed the wife would never ride again after her experience as a passenger....so I started shopping FJR's to replace the totaled mc. Soon as she saw what I was looking at she informed me that the bike didn't look like it was going to be comfortable enough for her to ride on...guess that pretty much told me whether or not she would ever ride again...so I went back to looking for a c90...when/if the time comes will strongly consider the FJR also.

Whats the big hurry...slow down and enjoy the ride!

If you're worried about the wife's comfort, you're looking at a Wing or an Electra Glide. No contest IMHO.

Get a used FJR for you, and a used Goldwing for the both of you.

Both bikes will last a lifetime.

Here's your used Goldwing with only 16k on the odometer, (why buy new when used will do), good for another 100k

And a color matched FJR https://hartford.craigslist.org/mcd/d/brewster-2007-yamaha-fjr-1300-automatic/6944087675.html

You get both for under 15k and everyone is happy.

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.

not bad Jay,,,the fjr unfortunately is an automatic...didn't know they made them back then...automatics are for old people...hey wait a minute..I am an old person...still...automatic on a bike...not for me...probably feel differently if I test rode it...low mileage ,,,wonder how long its been sitting...still for the money,,,seems like a good buy...the wing, another tempting find,,,Barb would be in her glory...will be fun shopping when the time comes...then again maybe the time has come...even thought about a HD....at the Yankee Rally in Vermont a few years back, remember the tour pack curse...so we went shopping that Saturday for a back rest for barb at some Suzuki dealer in the area so she could ride...she tried riding w/o a backrest and said "don't think so" so off we went in search of a Suzuki dealer...they had this HD on the floor ...caught Barbs eye...she was ready to buy it right then...needless to say, we left w/o a backrest and w/o the HD...so like I said thought for a second about a HD today...then I remember Mikes experience at Laconia at the HD dealer...so much for HD....sorry Beez...

Whats the big hurry...slow down and enjoy the ride!

Hey Dennis. Half the fun is the hunt. Enjoy it!

I've looked at the new GWs and they are awesome (as is the sticker shock). Not sure if there are any used new models yet, but I bet they will be coming soon. BMW makes some nice sports tourers. I like my Yamaha Road Star and they make a touring version (Star Venture) which you might want to look into.

Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans!
