not bashing HD on this instance, just that particular service dept...last year on my way home from vacationing in Maine was heading to NH to meet a friend for lunch. Shortly after crossing the NH line my stator went and had to get the bike towed to a dealer for repair. Closest one was about 20 minutes away,,,a Honda dealer so I figure they work on metrics, shouldn't be a problem.Could have gone to the Suzuki in Laconia a bit further away, but the tow guy informed me with all the construction, traffic was a mess so I opted to take it to the Honda place.
when I got there, told service guy about the history the 05/06's had with stators and after looking at several other possibilities accepted the fact that it was indeed the stator. Told me it would take a few days to get the part, wife picked me up and we went home. 5 days later, guy calls me tells me bike is ready...go to pick it up...how much?...$1.000...I look at him and say ...sure its not 997.52 or 106.75....nope $1.000...seems that was going to be the price the minute I signed on the dotted line...so I handed him my credit card and when he gave it back to me, he gave me a look that pretty much told me that he knew that I knew that he was f#cking me over....so the purpose of this story is that its not just HD dealers that screw people over....then again, at least they repaired my bike....fwiw...the repair on the high side should have cost me around 5 bills. They installed a new battery...last time my stator went on my 05, didn't have to replace the battery but ok...swallowed that...nothing else...appreciate my service guys even more now.
Whats the big hurry...slow down and enjoy the ride!
