My VL800 did the same thing. It improved when I switched to semi-synthetic oil.

The problem I have with Triumphs is there are no dealers . The closest dealer to me closed and it wasn't because Triumphs aren't reliable it's because Triumph made it hard for smaller dealers to stay open with all the new rules .

Triumph Thunderbird

If I decide to get a larger bike this is the bike I'll buy. The Triumph Thunderbird touring model it's a beautiful bike and fast for a cruiser .

Incredible machines. It basically has twice the torque and HP as the VL800 and can be tuned for more. Far more reliable than anything Harley ever built

I've owned several different brands of bikes used to buy sell and trade them as a hobby. The least reliable brands I owned were BMWS 1st then Harley Davidson owned several of both . New Triumphs are very reliable and look great , the Triumph bobber and Speedmaster are really cool bikes .
