This is the kind of thing that keeps me in love with this forum.

Menhir, I've seen your posts asking for -- and getting -- sound advice about your bike. And now, look at you go!

And I'm glad I found this place, too. The members have been very helpful.

The recommendation to use an auto inspection glass to check the oil came in handy on the road.

Links to the service and owners manual helped me prepare for the trip...I downloaded the manual to my phone.

Suggestions for better mirrors helped my track down a really good set (the local stores had next to nothing) and have them arrive on time to install before I left.

Being told where to look for a switched power source in the headlight bucket of all places (I never would have thunk of that), got me my GPS wired up pronto.

Cool beans. 🙂

I'm no stranger to touring and moto-camping. This was my third longish trip this year...and I wasn't about to miss out on Sturgis. I only had two week or so after I traded my Honda in for the Suzuki, so I really appreciated the help I received to get it set up in quick order so I wouldn't have to cancel my trip.

Re: your front end noise. Had something similar on my 09 C50T. Thought it was a loose neck cover, wires rubbing etc. Zip tied everything that might be loose with no help. The shop says might be the front wheel bearings so they were replaced. Guess what - still an annoying random squeel/squak. Took it back and they took the front wheel off again and lubed the speed sensor; voila! - problem solved! No charge for the second wheel removal as they should have considered the speed sensor when the had the wheel off the first time. About 35,000 km on the bike at that time. Sure was a relief to get rid of it as you're not sure how serious it is.

Thanks for that information...I'll definitely look into that. It's something I would have never thought of.

Other than that noise, the bike is performing very well. It would be nice get it silenced, though.

On a different note, I'll try to post a few pics of my trip soon. My job has kept me very busy since I returned but I'll be getting a bit of a break coming up. Hopefully. 🙂
