4th of July Mode: Flag Holder for Solo Riders

Installed a small flag on my C50: bought on Amazon: "E-Most Adjustable 6'' x 9'' American Flag + Flagpole Mount Luggage Rack/Fender For Harley Davidson Honda Goldwing CB VTX CBR Yamaha"

Bought an angle bracket and cut it to size. Replaced included chromed bolt with a SS 5/16-24 -2-1/2" bolt, cut it flush with a matching SS lock-nut, put some tooth lock washers and thread-locked everything. Cost: about $20 and 30 minutes of work.

P.S. An even better way of doing this is to cut a matching thread M8-1.25 into the main flag rod, and screw it directly into the fender opening for the rear seat. The diameter of this particular rod is larger than m8 (probably m10 or m11), and it would require turning it in a lathe, which I don't have. Another option: buy a SS rod, cut the thread on the bottom, put a washer on the bottom to retain the flag, and cap the rod with a cup nut. Price would have been the same, if you factor the rod, hardware and the flag itself.

Nice.

It kind of looks like a CB antenna base. Good work though.

Sweet.

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.

I want to get one, and mount it on my helmet with my Stebel horn and red flashing beacon.

Good idea, would improve my ultra short waves reception 🙂

If you mount it to your helmet be sure to line the helmet with foil. If you don't you're just asking for the government mind control waves to get in.

Hope this helps.

Whiskey,

Upon your suggestions, I wrapped my whole motorcycle in foil. Aliens and their human collaborator won't be able to trace me me now... Only concern I have is overheating the engine...

The flag does get a bit in the way when I'm mounting/dismounting the bike. I did catch it with my boot a few times, and I'm fairly certain, I would have broken it if not for the pivot bolt attached to angle bracket. So installing it directly into the fender (cutting m8-1.25 thread) is probably not a good idea. Due to toothed washers, flag poll stays upright, but still has some give if I bump it hard enough. It doesn't move even while on highway or riding over potholes.
