This is going to sound real dumb, but does the rear tire of a 07 C50 need a tube? My rear blew out the other day (Dunlops, maybe 5000 miles on em, junk) and i can't find a direct answer by searching. I had em done by a local guy last year, and he said the rear needed one? Thanx.

With a spoked rim, yes. With an alloy rim, probably not. The C-50 and Volusia special edition bikes have the alloy rims and tubeless tires.

If it is tubed, what size tube? The tire is 170/80-15 and its not a T or a Custom Ed. Just the reg ed.

just buy the tube by the tire size.

don't forget, you want 90 deg stems to come out of the spokes!

also, don't forget new rim strips! Wink

The 2004 Special Edition has spokes...I have one. Just a note that I had to leave.

here's another n00b question - if you are replacing tires due to tread wear (as opposed to a blowout, etc), do you need new tubes as well?

maybe not, but consider it cheap insurance
do you really want to ride around on the same tube forever?
and get a new rin strip too

If you don't get a new tube when you install a new tire, your friends will tell you, "Penny wise, pound foolish" Wink

thanks for the help guys. i've been doing most of the maintenance myself but i think changing a tire is beyond my abilities at the moment. i just bought a kenda kruz from the motorcycle superstore and will be taking it to a local shop to be mounted once it comes in. think they're going to look at me funny if i don't have a tube when i bring in the tire? for those who have done the same, do you usually provide tube and tire to the shop or do shops usually have tubes on-hand?

Some shops wont install a tire not bought from them. So I would at least by a tube from them if I were asking for them to install a tire I brought in. but that's just me.

Thats kinda silly since their getting paid to mount and balance. But I wouldn't doubt it.

our local shop will mount your online tire purchase, but you'll be on the back burner as far as getting it done in a timely fashion.........
