|
|
This is going to sound real dumb, but does the rear tire of a 07 C50 need a tube? My rear blew out the other day (Dunlops, maybe 5000 miles on em, junk) and i can't find a direct answer by searching. I had em done by a local guy last year, and he said the rear needed one? Thanx. _________________ Instigation!

With a spoked rim, yes. With an alloy rim, probably not. The C-50 and Volusia special edition bikes have the alloy rims and tubeless tires. _________________ Free people deal with uncertainty, risk, and choices. Slaves don't have to worry about any of that.

If it is tubed, what size tube? The tire is 170/80-15 and its not a T or a Custom Ed. Just the reg ed. _________________ Instigation!

just buy the tube by the tire size.
don't forget, you want 90 deg stems to come out of the spokes!
also, don't forget new rim strips! _________________

The 2004 Special Edition has spokes...I have one. Just a note that I had to leave. _________________ Marc

| here's another n00b question - if you are replacing tires due to tread wear (as opposed to a blowout, etc), do you need new tubes as well? |

maybe not, but consider it cheap insurance
do you really want to ride around on the same tube forever?
and get a new rin strip too _________________ 03 Volusia

If you don't get a new tube when you install a new tire, your friends will tell you, "Penny wise, pound foolish" |

| thanks for the help guys. i've been doing most of the maintenance myself but i think changing a tire is beyond my abilities at the moment. i just bought a kenda kruz from the motorcycle superstore and will be taking it to a local shop to be mounted once it comes in. think they're going to look at me funny if i don't have a tube when i bring in the tire? for those who have done the same, do you usually provide tube and tire to the shop or do shops usually have tubes on-hand? |

Some shops wont install a tire not bought from them. So I would at least by a tube from them if I were asking for them to install a tire I brought in. but that's just me. _________________ Mark

Thats kinda silly since their getting paid to mount and balance. But I wouldn't doubt it. |

our local shop will mount your online tire purchase, but you'll be on the back burner as far as getting it done in a timely fashion......... _________________ rifle shield/lowers, fender guards, cobra bars, jim's spacers, pegs, sageb chaps, gel seat, cruise, easyoff brackets, oem bags, l. rack, oem pass boards, kury. roll bag, brake cover
