After reading all the posts I am on the way to get a spare key that I can keep on me. I always have all my spare keys in the safe at home. _________________ 2009 C50T Black

on trips the wife carrys a spare one with her. went across canada with buddy. he had my spare and i had his. he managed to lose his on a beach in prince edward island. a lot of searching recovered the lost key but it could have been a sad story without a spare and not able to find the lost key. _________________ i may be wrong, i have been wrong before. |

One of the first things that I did was to go have a spare key made, and then hid it on the bike! I use the Suzuki black key, the spare that I had made, is hidden on the bike, and the factory spare is home in my desk! _________________ 2007 C50 Black (Left-over, bought "New" in 2009!)

OMG..... The reason for a spare key....
Friend was riding across Ontario and we met up to ride part of the way. He asked me if I wanted to try his Priceless harley.... after thinking about it for a while... I said sure and we swapped for about 20 miles. Well his key works differently, you just need your key on you to work the bike. ( Does not go into a key hole) Well after the ride, we stopped for coffee, parted ways....
2 hours later I am getting a phone call..... I left with his key... Thank God he had a spare or I would have been trekking a long way to get his key back...

Unless you have the key code to get a replacement made, use the spare as your main key. If you need to get a copy, have it done from the unused original, not a copy of the copy. Minute variations in cutting over time could mean the copy won't work. Keep the original unused and unworn.
Also...what if the dealer is closed when you need one; or there is no dealer nearby? _________________ Chris

Spare key, spare bulbs, tool kit, registration and proof of insurance. Don't take a trip without them. _________________ Mark
