I recently signed up to the site after buying a 2004 Volusia 800 last year, and determining what mods I want to do to my bike. I'd like to do a DJ drive, but am wondering what effect it will have on the rest of the drivetrain. I have a set of Vance and Hines with no baffles installed (wrong, I know, but fun for scaring suburban mommeis in SUV's). I bought it used, so I do not know if it has been rejetted. Yes, it will do a mini-backfire when I downshift from mid-range in a gear, but this is random. It'll pop, too during deceleration, but randomly as well. I've read that is standard for these bikes. Since I do not know if it has been re-jetted, I'd like to know what effect a K&N filter will have on this bike. I've got to get the cylinder head covers off anyway to adjust the valves (tapping noise during acceleration/deceleration; gets softer once the engine is warm) and replace the plugs, so would re-jetting the carbs help, and if so, what kit should I use? I mainly want to be able to keep up with my riding friends at highway speeds without having the engine sound like it's about to explode. Thanks.

But on high beam that's gonna draw 16A - obviously WAY too much for the standard 10A fuse. I wanna know if I can run a 20A fuse or is that going to burn out the wires/switch over time?

I have been a member here a few months but never introduced myself. I rode a 1971 750 Honda for several years but sold in 1987. I am 62 years old and retired. Last year i bought an 06 C50. The person I got it from took very good care of it and kept it serviced. I took the riders safety course and started riding again. Last week I took it to a local dealer for service. They changed the oil and filter and the gear oil and checked everything else and said everything looked good. They charged me $141.00. Is this about what everyone charges? I think I will probably start changing oil and filter myself. Thanks.

I think I deserve a National Cycle Frequent Buyer's Card or something like that!

My dealer ordered the NC Dakota 4.5 Touring Windscreen *the Switchblade 2 up would NOT fit my bike!*, NC Paladin Sissy Bar and quick release bracket, NC Cruiseliner bag brackets and a new set of quarter turn fasteners for the bags. All told, it took less than 3 days from the time of my order until I picked them up this afternoon! Installation was a breeze and I am very happy with the way the bike looks now!

Now all I need is somewhere to ride to!

I have found a few posts on here about adding a buzzer/beeper to remind you of your turn signals. I have also read were some have added led's to remind them. My questions are 1) which would be more helpful as a reminder and 2) where can I get detailed instructions on doing this?

Since putting in the custom dial face I can no longer see my light and I am very hesitant about doing anything to the circuit board. I would greatly appreciate anyone's help and directions on this, I want to stop looking like a redneck. If you can give me a parts list and directions on how I am pretty sure I can do it. After all, I changed the speedo dial as well as a few other things. I will also be putting in an accessory fuse block in either this weekend or the next (thanks to reading several post on here). Thanks for any and all input on this up front.
