Wow what a difference!
Well today was rejet the carb day. Got it all done and back together about two hours ago, nice day temp wise, so gave it a good test ride and a little mix adjustment. I thought it was running good before....was I in for a surprise! Way better.
I put in a 132 main jet, a 32.5 pilot jet, and installed a new idle mix screw spring and O ring with washer. Checked everything and reset the float and replaced the float needle. I wound up with a 2.25 out mix screw setting. Anything more with the 32.5 pilot and it was running too rich.
The difference in the power is very noticeable from start to full open. Purrs like a lion on steady throttle. Sure glad I got it on the first go around.
I took my time and completely cleaned out every last orifice in the carb, took everything off, polished everything brass and cleaned the carb inside and out with oxalic acid, it is great for cleaning up anything non ferrous and stainless. Also replaced all O rings and gaskets.
And now I have a question, I took pictures as I went, took pictures of the tear down of the bike, as well as the tear down of the carb itself, so my question is, can I leave the pictures on my hard drive and link them here, or do they need to go on the internet? If I can get a bit of help with that, I will post a tutorial with pictures on the carburated versions that should cover 2001-04 at least. Unless it has already been done and I didn't find it.
