Default K&N air filter mod

Hi, I am a new member here and have gathered alot of useful info. from reading posts. Thanks I have a 2005 C 90. I am installing Cobra Slashdowns, I already have a PC-3, and a K&N airfilter. I have been reading about the Gman's mod to a K&N, and wondering what it entails. Also I am removing the Pair valve. I would appreaciate any advice on this project. Thanks Bill

My advice? Don't.

The K&N makes all that additional power by letting in A LOT more air than the stock filter. The up side, gobs of power. The down side, it does a VERY POOR job of actually filtering the air. As others have learned, all that dirt (and vaporized oil) makes a heck of a mess in the intake and throttle body......

The G-Man mod involves drilling the crap out of the bottom and back of the stock air box. Once you do it, you're stuck, permanently, with that mod unless you find some way to repair the plastic, or replace the air-box entirely.

You're on a C90 for crying out loud... Just how much more power do you need ??? *lol*

I've done the mod. and yes, it's more maintenance in keeping the filter clean. But I have noticed more throttle response. I also have the Gman bully, but stock pipes at present. I'll convert over to something like the Thunder air kit most likely once I upgrade the pipes, althought that too incorporates a K&N filter. Skrapiron is right on the chance of clogging, but I compensate by cleaning K&N filter at often enough intervals. And I limited the number of holes in the chrome cover, and only in the bottom, for what that's worth.
