Default First time locked up the rear brake

It was scary but i guess now i know what it means..smoke was every where. I have few questions:
Should i adjust the rear break to be looser than now?
Will The spot on the rear tire where got "flatten" a little cause any bumpy ride and imbalance?

What you did has nothing to do with a mechanical adjustment.

You put too much foot on the brake. All you need are your toes giving steady preassure.

Remember, because of the weight shift forward, you only get 30% of your breaking from the rear.

And also rememeber that you never, ever release the rear brake when you lock it up. The rear will fish-tail and if you give the rear power when it is out of alignment with the front you will do a high side. Not fun.

Be good

I had the same first time situation a couple years ago. So i did adjust my rear brake so it wont lock up if i panic and apply to much pressure to fast. I havent had to use it in a real life situation but during pravctice emergency stops, it works the way you would think it should.

The rear brake on the C50 has 2 modes. Anti-Stop and Fully Locked Up.

I had my brake adjusted far enough out that it would help SLOW the bike, but it was not tight enough to lock the wheel should I get a bit over-zealous with my stop.

I learnt at MSC not to let the rear go if locked up as well...
I wonder if there is any " brake" upgrade possible...

I'm not aware of any rear brake upgrade other than putting on aftermarket EBC brake linings.

There's a difference between enough brake to safely stop, nowhere near enough, and enough to lock the rear.

When I set mine I take it out to a back road then starting from just barely enough i adjust and test until the tire barks on a hard stomp, then back off one turn....if I were to really stand on it it would lock, But in a typical oh s*it situation stampin on it all the rear brake does is what it's supposed to do... stop the friggin bike. too much brake is just as bad as not enough.

Someday all bikes will have ABS. I know we should not need them in theory, but it would be comforting to know they're there just in case.

+1.

If your brake is too tight, it will lock the wheel and cause you to skid when you need it least to do so, especially during a panic stop or on low traction surfaces. Properly adjusted, the brake will SLOW the bike, without STOPPING the rear wheel UNLESS a lot of pressure is applied to the pedal.
