didn't ride w/music for that reason for years...wanted to but one of those safety things I'm anal about...like helmets and gear...then i tried out an mp3 and found i could hear everyhting i need to hear just fine...one of those $50 investments that I'm glad I tried. At worst I figured I would use them when I mow the lawn if It didn't work out. Ride w/music pretty much all the time now. Unfortunately a grand for a stereo system...to each his own...although it would be nice to utilize my Sirius on my mc...and tune in the Mad Dog when I need to laugh.

For a sound system only, I agree......add a quality fiberglass fairing plus a sound system for that same money......makes for a more pleasurable ride, imo.

Seriously nothing special really except the housing. The sound units look like standard car stuff coupled with marine speakers. No biggy. Car head units have scads of power if you get the right one and cost is very reasonable.
I'd say buy a fairing and have at it!. Scads of options you can squirrel in there for less than this premium box.
i would say the housing is fairly costly to produce and the clamping system looks nice. There's more ways to do the same thing for less money.
IMHO.. Cheers
