So, I've finished designing and costing a flasher unit for brake lights, and was trying to see how much interest there would be in such a unit.
I know for around $20-22 you can get one off of ebay (including shipping and all). The unit I am looking to build will be $28, shipping included (continental US... others will need a quote for extra charge). It will be in a small plastic enclosure (roughly 1-1/2" x 2") with mounting ears. It will have leads to splice into your existing brake line. Connect ground, brake in, and brake out... that's it. The benefit of my implementation of this unit is that it will be adjustable for flash rate (1.2 x up to 9x per second), and flash time (before it goes to a solid brake light- 1.5 seconds to 7 seconds). It will drive LEDs or incandescent (up to 20 watt) bulbs. If desired, I can provide a unit that will only flash continuously and not go solid. Let me know if you would be interested in this. If I go ahead on this, I will looking at producing 100 units for the first run.

Sure, I'd be interested in your concept. I'm always for the other guy when it comes to gismos and electronic things that don't come from Japan.

Sure enough I'm interested. I'm all about being seen.
How many hours of testing do you have on the unit?

The circuit is only designed and prototyped. If the interest is sufficient, it will be thoroughly torture tested on the bench using the exact components and layout I plan to sell, with a load and voltage that is higher than I will rate it for, over a period of a couple weeks of continous use. That is my next step. The prototype will be driving the 60 LEDs on my V-strom top case. I won't release anything that I'm not sure will last. I'm also very conservative on my designs, using components that are higher rated than necessary, and also suppression and protection on the circuit. The way it is implemented is extremely simple, and should be very durable.
