( ***** Update go to post # 57 ofor uptodate pics.)Hello my second Family,
Some of ya'll can remember back in early sept. 2011 I was down due to ankle fusion.. Well the recovery was long as heck, almost 8 months . 7 tunsten screws and a h3ll of a lot of pain, living dose by dose on pain meds. ![]() Okay well, now I went in tuesday morning to see the doc. they took x-rays and seen that 2 of the screws are bent and I have a h3ll of alot bone cracks and chipping in my ankle. The only way to move forward is a BTK ( Below the knee ) Amputation . ![]() ![]() ![]() The way I understand it is the doc. will do his thing and then I will go 2-3 weeks trying to heel, minus 1 foot & lower leg. Then I will be wearing some sort of sock to try and heel the Stump for a prosthetic.. I will keep ya'll up to date as I know. Guess I will be riding LATER on with a fony ***** leg & foot. YA'll keep your heads up, trust me when I say it can always be worse ! Be thankfull for your feet. Oh and as if this isnt bad enought, I had to quit my new job on day 3 due to this S**t. They said they would take me back. But who knows when I'll be ready to work again.

Man, this is tough to hear, but you are an inspiration in your positive outlook. Glad to know that you aren't letting it stop you. I'll be praying for your quick recovery and healing.
There was a boss at my work who recently retired. He was a neat guy, but in what we do comes some serious nut grinding stress and deep crap. He had a big bookshelf in his office that, among other things, he kept his combat boots from Vietnam. He was asked one day why they were there and he remarked...."When I think this sh!it is bad around here, I look at those boots and they remind me that things could be a h3ll of a lot worse." It is sometimes really hard to look past our situation and think it could be worse; but it can be, and probably will be someday. My hats off to you my friend and thanks for reminding me to remember what it really important. You have my prayers...

From one gimp to another, you have been one of the reason I have continued to face the hardships of riding with leg problems. You and I have talked some about our leg problems but mine seem mundane compared to what you are facing. I know that if I don't take care of my diabetes, I too may face such a fate but I will always be inspired by the heart that you possess...it is an Honor to have such a Friend...please feel free to call on me at any moment for anything...I will send my numbers, so that during recovery, you need someone to talk to or b1_tch at or share the pain...NO MATTER the time of day or night...I'm there...

Tough situation to be in brother, but if it will mean better quality of life then so be it. Was glad to get the chance to meet you at the Plundering the Peninsula rally, your sense of humour and strength in a difficult situation are an inspiration to us all. Take care and wishing you a speedy recovery so we can see you at the next rally in 2013!

Not the news you wanted to hear, I'm sure. I admire your positive outlook on the situation. You know we're all pulling for you here. Best of luck with the procedure and recovery.

Wow, I can't imagine what it must be like to go through this. Thank you for your post and for the encouragement of your positive attitude. Last summer I met a guy who lost a leg in a bike crash. He had a prosthetic and rode more often than before.

Would a second medical evaluation & opinion be a worthwhile consideration?
How about a stainless steel ankle joint? http://www.footankleinstitute.com/ankle-replacement/ Think I'd go that route first, before I'd allow amputation. Prayers sent on Your behalf.
