Ok, trying to get the bike out of hibernation. Last time she ran was 3-4 yrs ago. Took all the old gas out, changed spark plugs, new battery, changed oil. If I keep spraying gas into the air intake it keeps idling, as soon as I stop, it shuts off. So, I'm thinking it's not getting gas. Is there a way to rest fuel pump or clean injectors? Possibly bad fuel pump? Oh, this would help...05 c50 2600 miles, owned a business so have not done much riding, trying to change that! Could the fuel pump go bad from just sitting???
like Duffy says, if the fuel pump is winding up, then your injectors are clogged with gasoline that has turned into shellac which in-turn will turn into something like a weak epoxy over a couple of years. Make sure it's not clogged fuel lines first, Then if this is the case, your quickest solution is to get a used throttle body. You can try soaking the existing throttle body in some carb cleaner, but I would be cautious due to the electrical connections, wiring of the integrated unit.
You can try pulling the injectors out and soak them, but be careful of the o-rings, unless you have "exact" replacements you can have an even bigger problem. You may also be able to turn the throttle body upside down and squirt some carb cleaner in the base of the injector to see if you can free it up.
Another option would be to replace the injectors. If you can find replacements at a reasonable cost. I looked up the parts for a 2005 C50 as an example, ...
Babbits/Suzuki Parts House for a 2005 C50
INJECT ASY item: 15710-14G00 qty: 2 @ $173.07 $346.14
O RING item: 15721-10G00 qty: 2 @ $5.95 $11.90
O RING item: 15722-10G00 qty: 2 @ $7.39 $14.78
If this is the path you need to take, do a little research and search for just the model number of the injector. You will likely find it much less than if you were to purchase it from Suzuki. The only difference may be the o-rings.
I just went through this with our 2011 Kia Sedona, ... Kia wanted $90/injector, needed 6, ... Found the same exact unit on Alibaba.com for $12ea. Same mfgr in China.
A little research and patience can save lots of $$$.
I've resituated a vintage beamer's injectors by pulling them, soaking them in wd40, then energizing them with a 9 volt battery while feeding them carb cleaner pushed in with an air hose. The bike ran a little when I bought it and it run perfect afterwards. It is not too hard of a job with 2 people. Wear eye protection!
Well, looks like it's the pump, took everything out, 2 connections off, everything was corroded. Now I'll clean the tank, replace, put back together and ride! Have any of you used the $80 pump that's out there? Any good? Not crazy about spending $400 for the other.
