Hi everyone,
i've been reading tons and tons of handy tips here on the forum! very grateful for that. I'm currently checking the grease level on the driveshaft and ... i have the hardest time getting the drive shaft taken out. I removed the grease cap yesterday without problems. now i have to take out the circlip that holds the driveshaft in place. I have tried a lot of options, but without success. I'm squeezing the circlip and pushing down a little bit. the circlip almost closes entirely but then ... nothing else. I can't move any deeper or I can't really pull the shaft out. What am I not doing right? how can i get the old grease completely off? just by using a cloth? much appreciated all. |

Try pushing down slightly on the shaft (toward the final drive housing), as you compress the c-clip. Once compressed, the c-clip should come out of the groove.
Once the c-clip is out of the groove, the drive shaft should pull straight out.

Yep The way I take them out is to pull the clip in with the pliers and compress the shaft then it just lifts out- alternately is to pry one side with a screw driver - that kinda wrecks the clip tho. Pushing DOWN on the shaft to make clearance while compressing the clip is the secret tho- its easy once the pressure on it is relieved.

Thank you all guys!
I was apparently too focused on the "eyes" of the circlips and never noticed that the back of the ring was already popping out. So, once I realized that.... Thanks everybody! Safe trails |
