I have a 2009 C50 and I am trying to do maintenance on the air filter. I have looked the removal process up in the manual and here and I cannot for the life of me find the hook on the back of the housing. I loosened the clamp bolt and removed the two bolts the manual refers to and I still cannot get the housing loose. I am afraid I am going to break something trying to get this off to get to the filter. The manual says "unhook the hook". I don't see it.
Thanks in advance!

Hey
There is a hooked part but it isnt very difficult to remove the cleaner housing once you loosen the two bolts and the clamp bolt( clamp bolt to remove the air cleaner. Be very careful, its soft metal ring. After u remove the two hex bolts and the rubber housing, just wiggle it up down left right till u can get the housing in your hand. THen there are two wires connected to the housing. Carefully remove those two wires and the housing will be free from the bike. Then 4 screws more to open the housing and 4 screws more to get to the filter.Use compressed air or if u dont have compressed air, go to a gas station or any service place and ask them to blow it out for you. Only blow from the inside out or ull force dirt deeper. Manual says put a new filter every 3 years but IMHO 2 years is a good time. If u ride in a place where its not dusty and the air is relatively clean and free from pollution then 3 years Let us know how it goes. Be gentle, there is no tugging or pulling required at all |

At 11,000 miles fuel mileage has not dropped so it appears to be getting plenty of air. With as lean as the factory tunes these bikes I'm in no hurry.
