Default Just in case you need it . . .

There is a pretty good cycle salvage called Oz Powersports in Ottawa Kansas. I would think it might be considerably cheaper that a new harness. Good luck with your spark chasin!

Why would you spend 350 for a wiring harness. There are probably 10 of them on e-bay for way less than that.

Disconnect the negative battery strap, let it rest for 30 seconds, reconnect...start bike see if it doesn't stay off
worked for me once before

I was thinking something like that as well. Electronics seem to go wonky once in a while and need a re-boot so to speak. I had to disconnect the battery on my car once to get the nav-radio to function properly. I left the battery disconnected for a half hour, hooked it back up and everything worked like new.

Ok so as far as i can tell i have only found one thing wrong with the bike that might be causing my problem after an extensive amount of reading stuff out i found that the wire on my gear position sensor does not read from the blue wire to the black and white wire it just reads to ground when it is in nuetral so naturally this ground is good enough to run the relay that kicks on the fuel pump so already know that this switch is bad but i also found something else cause that is not causing the check message the pink wire that comes off of this is your signal to your ecm for what gear your in there are sensors inside of the gear position mudule right behind the stator cover that send signals to the ecm so the bike can give a different fuel map for each gear so since i dont get a reading from this wire to the other two wires im thinking the ecm is confused as to how i could be in nuetral and in a gear too if this is the case problem solved when i get the switch changed out i will post back for other readers if this fixed the problem in case someone else runs into this problem as it can be quite frustrating going through clymer wiring diagrams and trying to figure out what suzuki was thinking when they designed this thing anyway thanks all for your help and your advice hopefully i wont have to come back with my tail tucked haha

There is a thread here about the gear position switch - how to fix crappy performance in the 5th gear. Have a look. It might help

Why is it not throwing a code when you download the "CHEC" light ?

Where are you located, maybe you can swap instrument clusters with someone near to you long enough to see if maybe the shorted groud issue fried something in the cluster.
