Hi all,
just asking this question. I took off the rear fender (and front ) to go for the bobber look. so i'll be adding side mount stop and seat mount indicators. 1. Do I keep my electrical cabling system from the rear fender and strip that or do I get rid of the main connector all together and start connecting wires to each of the components? 2. Can I hookup an led stop light? any extra things I need to do in order to accomodate this? 3. I ordered indicator lights with dual filament. is this accomodated on the volusia 2002? or is this something I would have to modify in order to make that work. I realize that the last question could have been answered by myself, wasn't it that I tore apart the entire bike not even 9hrs after I got it. so at this point, I honestly don't know whether my rear indicators also are running lights.. i sincerely appreciate the help here. |

1. I haven't seen what the wiring looks like but I'd try to keep all the factory connectors intact and just spice out the extra wiring using butt connectors and sealing them with shrink tubing. From what I'm visualizing it seems all you have to do is get rid of the excess wire.
2. LED brakes lights shouldn't be a problem. Where replacement LEDs can be a problem is with the turn signals or more specifically the flasher since LEDs draw less current. 3. For dual filaments you can tell if you'll need to change wiring if the front or rear turn signals incorporate running lights. If they are dual filament they'll be illuminated all the time with the headlight and glow brighter and flash with the flasher. If they only come on with the flasher and don't glow constantly with the headlight they are single filament.
