Default Foreign Object in Gas Tank

How is this for stupidity? I was adding fuel stabilizer to my gas tank. The little round paper-thin plastic "gasket" from the lid of the stabilizer stuck to the neck of the bottle which I poured into the tank to get the very last drop of red stabilizer out of the bottle and in fell that tiny gasket and disappeared from view in the filler neck. Next time, discard the little gasket. So, what will happen and what should I do?

1. Nothing much will happen and eventually the gasoline will dissolve the little plastic gasket. I should do nothing except be more careful in future.

2. The gasket will eventually settle on the fuel drain at the bottom of the tank, cutting off fuel supply causing the engine to stall out, possibly at a bad time. I ought to pull the tank, fill with fuel, slosh and dump it out, repeating as necessary until I find that tiny gasket. Messy job.

Any advice?
Thanks in advance from Ian in Lethbridge

sell the bike. No on a more serious note I would probably remove the tank and empty it out ...making sure i found the gasket...I would just be worried at the worst possible time the bike would shut down because of it and of course in the worst possible location...maybe too over concerned but I'd rather be sure its out. For all of an hours effort to make sure....Good luck.

You might not have to "fill" it with fuel, you may be able to just use a quarter of a tank or so. Just enough fuel to be able to slosh up the gasket

I rode for probably 15,000 miles with the seal from a bottle of Berryman fuel treatment in the tank of my Nomad. I wouldn't worry about it.

On an FI fuel pump there is a screen filter and that screen filter has a plastic cover around it.

I wouldn't worry too much about that gasket causing a problem.

Someday when you have the tank run down to about empty, pull the fuel tank and take the pump out of the bottom of it.

See if you can locate the foriegn object. Just don't use a match for light.
