Default California Emmissions Charcoal Cannister Removal Question

So, I had a bunch of time today and I was poking at where to put my accessory fuse block and finally decided that the CA Charcoal Can has to go.

So I pulled it off, but now I have two hoses sort of sitting upcapped and out there. I did secure them to a bracket with the open ends facing up.

I did notice that when i started the bike, it was idling a little fast for a bit and then settled back down.

I know one of the hoses goes to the fuel tank, where does the other hose go and should I connect them or cap them somehow?

I've been thinking of removing my charcoal can too but haven't. Sorry, I don't know.
So you are riding a California bike in Mass. ?

Bike Bandit's Microfiche calls it the fuel catch tank.

I hope that's the charcoal canister.

From your posts it sounds like the charcoal cannister keep gas vapors from polluting the air. Removing it may effect how your bike runs leaving it on probably doesn't effect performance.

Taking a charcoal cannister off one bike is no big deal. If 10,000 cannisters are removed would it still be ok? Found an earlier post on the effects of California air pollution. California Air Pollution Kills More People Than Car Crashes, Study Shows

But it is definately hard for many to associate removing air pollution devices with the death of someone.
