Default (Solved) Whirring Sound From Front Brake

I lost my M50 on a curve a few months ago, and when the insurance paid out I ended up replacing it with a C50. On my C50 I hear a whirring noise when I pull the front brake that sounds like it's coming from the master cylinder. The mechanic at the dealership I bought it from says it's normal, but my M50 didn't make that noise. Can anyone verify if this is a normal noise, or is it something I should be concerned about? All fluids are at a good level, and the brake feels fine when I pull it, no stuttering or shaking, just the ever present whir. Thanks in advance.

Try riding the brake a little bit this will clean and seat the pads.

I've put about 800 miles on it in Atlanta traffic, I don't know how much more riding I need to do on the brake!

It is a whirring sound, like a pump running, and it's coming from the brake reservoir on the handlebars, not from the tire area. I don't know if that was clear in my original post or not.

Nothing in the reservoir area to make a sound must be coming from the brake pad area with the sound being transmitted to your hearing via the brake fluid. I have no idea what it is but since RemingtonNY said he experienced the same sound after a brake pad change I would just replace the brake fluid by bleeding the brakes. Suzuki recommends replacing the brake fluid every two years. Most don't do this but it could solve your problem as their may be air in the line or old brake fluid. If bleeding and changing brake fluid solves the problem let us know and some of us may then change our brake fluid too.

The brake disk are exposed and can be contaminated your local auto store cells a product for spraying on disk brakes for cleaning the surface I would also give the brake disk a cleaning spray.

I have a whining noise, but I'm pretty sure it's my fuel pump. Are you sure the noise is not coming from around the gas tank?

When I use a fuel additive (Seafoam) the whining stops for a bit. You might want to add an additive to see if that helps. It can't hurt.

When replacing the brake pads Suzuki says to apply Suzuki Silicon Grease to the brake caliper holder on both of the slide rods (my words Suzuki just shows a picture). Not applying the grease could result in vibration and perhaps more noise than average when applying the brakes.

Maybe it's coming from the handlebars. A nut from the h'bar end weights might have come loose and vibrating inside the bars. Try pulling the end weights off. And if it does...then your nuts is loose.

Sanos, I have a lot of loose nuts (or so my wife tells me), but know that's not what I'm hearing. The noise I'm hearing is a mechanical whir, kind of like the one you hear when the fuel pump engages after turning the bike on, but it's starts as soon as I pull the brake lever, and stops as soon as I let it go, so it is definitely something in the brake system making the noise.

2RR, I like your idea about bleeding the brake system, I've never heard it from brakes, but you get a noise from the power steering pump in a car if you run low on fluid and get air in the lines, so it makes sense that brake pumps might do the same thing. It sounds like it's coming from the reservoir, but that doesn't mean the noise isn't being transferred from somewhere else on the bike and just traveling through the lines. If it means anything, I checked it this morning and you don't get the sound if the bike is in key on, engine off. Unfortunately that also makes it a bit harder to track down, because I have V&H Straight Shots on the bike and they get a bit loud.

Based off of the responses I'm getting here, it sounds like this isn't a normal sound, so I will spend some time digging into it this weekend and let you guys know what I find. Thanks for all of the great suggestions.
