It's funny this topic was posted. For the past few months, I have been deciding on whether or not to install a V&H Cruzer exhaust on my '06 C50. For the past four days, I've been reading up on just about every post regarding the exhaust install, and what it takes to install it. Installing the exhaust doesn't seem too bad, but then it came down to installing some sort of power commander (as it was suggested to install one). I've looked at both the PC III and the V&H FuelPak, but warnings on both of them say "for racing use only"? I then looked at the PC III EX (which looked approved for road-use), and the cost was about as much as the exhaust system itself. I also read on the forum that after the whole exhaust/PC/air filter install, it will only give about 20% more power to your bike. So after everything I researched, does that sound about right to anyone who has this setup? Or am I completely off?

Hp either in cars or in motorcyles is always very expensive but to better answer your question you will get maybe 15% more and on a smaller displacement motor like this is still significant and you will feel a difference if done right. (dyno ect,,,) I would personally use the Gman bully due to it's simplicity to use and from reading info in these forums,
Good luck and have fun with your mods Do it for the fun and don't think about the $$$$ |

Installed the GMan Bully + K/N Filter + V/H Straightshots on my 2008 Suzuki Boulevard C50 = easy installation, greatly improved performance, excellent acceleration and loud rumble! Thanks GMan..

With the increased performance and torque, one tends to be a little heavy on the throttle. However, during a 5,000km trip across the western prairies, through the mountains and over to Vancouver Island, I averaged 46 mpg. I logged as low as 35 mpg and as high as 58 mpg. Again, it all depends on the manner and speed in which I choose to drive the bike. I can't say enough how impressed I have been with this mod in terms of performance and torque. A significant improvement over stock.

I think the original question was about fuel consumption. To that I would say your best investment would be the DJ drive. By reducing your cruising RPM's you naturally reduce your consumption.
Another suggestion would be to try 3 or 4 tanks of 93 octane gas. I originally got about 48 mpg on my 05 C50 with regular. I went to 93 and started getting 50 - 53. I put in the DJ and the mpg went to 55+.
