Well you could but it'd be a bunch of work... My question would be; why?

The VS800 Engine is completely different, one exhaust is on the wrong side, mounts are different, wiring is different, frame is different, etc....
Can it be done, yes, with all the tools of a custom builder I would say probably, but if you are talking a "just swap" then no.

You need a 2005+ VL800 engine

Here's to a long life and a merry one.

Not only is the frame completely wrong to support the VL800 C50 engine, but the there is no way to support the electronics needed as the wiring harness is also completely wrong. Also, the tank is completely wrong as well. If you want to spend ungodly amounts of money and pay someone to fabricate a frame that would fit, a custom tank with fuel pump, then custom wire the bike, anything is possible. Otherwise, you can only put another VS800 engine in the frame.
