Yes there are differences in Cast versus steel wheels. My M50 has cast wheels and the standard C50 spacer cut for the VS1400 drive I installed worked fine for me. But manufacturing tollerances sometimes will necessitate a slightly longer spacer in some instances.

It sounds simple but how long has it been since you changed the rear end fluid?

Fluid was changed when I installed the drive, so roughly 2 months or so.

I had something that sounds the same develop a few months and a few thousand miles after installing a drive from Aric. I searched the board and one of the suggestions was to check the torque on the axel nut and make sure it was at spec.
When I did it was not tight enough and when I torqued it with a torque wrench the sound went away. The setting is 47 ft lbs |

I have had a guy who purchased a drive from me have some spacer issues- needed slightly more thickness on the spacer- a washer fixed it-
