I pay attention to the ambient or outside temperature for the oil viscosity I choose. If it's cooler say -10 to 15*C then I stay with the 10w40. The next stage would be from around 15*C to 21*C when I switch to 15w40. When it stays consistently warm above that I stick with the 20w50.... It seems to work well, good protection and minimal engine noise.

GTX regular 10/40 or 20/50...like i said...has worked fine for me for the last 80k miles I've used it on my 2 suzuki's.
