Hi everyone, name is Mark and I ride a few bikes and live in Central FL. Early this year I bought my dad a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard M50 and he's loved it. The previous owner said it needed some TLC but it ran decent and looked great. I've done spark plugs, oil, air filter, and the bike was running good. Occasionally it would backfire or sometimes feel a little boggy and then one morning, pops was riding to work and it died on him. I picked it up on my trailer and was able to turn it over but it wouldn't keep idle or respond to throttle. When giving it gas, it bogs out and dies but if I slowly let OFF the throttle, it will idle for a little and then die.
My initial though is fuel injectors as the air filter is good and it seems like it's not getting enough fuel. Maybe fuel pump? Has anyone else run into this issue or something similar. I currently have the gas tank off (he was also running premium...) and the throttle body is about to come off. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Glad to be apart of this forum and hopefully share/gain endless amounts of information!
Have you run anything like SeaFoam thru the fuel injectors? Has it been sitting with ethanol gas in it for a while?
That stuff is terrible if it has been sitting. Water in the fuel is another thought.
BTW: where in Florida? I'm near Tampa.

We're in Volusia County right in the middle of Orlando and Daytona. (A city called Deltona)
I haven't run seafoam through it just yet. I have a local shop that will clean the injectors for $20 a pop. So what I'm thinking is get the injectors cleaned, drain all fuel, re-assemble, and then run seafoam to see how it effects it.
Hmm we have a couple people now on this site from Central Florida area. Time to have a meet up.
I am also thinking dirty throttle body, or injector. Have you pulled the plugs and checked how they are burning?
I pulled the spark plugs and replaced them prior to doing an oil change. Plugs were fine, just a little burnt up. Made sure to gap them properly. Throttle body seemed to be in decent shape, don't see any build-up and the plates open freely.
I grew up on Key Biscayne and left in 1984. I will not ride a motorcycle down there no one knows how to drive, so you guys have to head "North" to ride with us on open windy roads.
LOL
I hear ya. I wouldn't buy a bike while living in Miami either. Having moved to Northern Palm Beach, the difference in traffic is huge. I generally head north from here when I ride.
I my pulled my tank last month and had it coated. Cleaned and put new strainers in the injectors. WOW, what a difference!
