I live in Panama City Beach,FL...Cheap and beach do go hand in hand! Just have to come during the off time. Thunder beach here is huge. Up until today, it has been excellent biking weather. A week or two before spring break would be a good time to do it...

I'm interested. Thinkin of heading down for Daytona week....but a smaller crowd appeals to me as well. Keep me updated on the social network Ronken.

OK, I'm encouraged. We have plenty of time to plan something. flyer469, I might ask for some advice from you but I don't want to impose on your time. Most research can be done on the internet, then it's just finding when everyone is available. Before Thunder Beach or Daytona would be good suggestions as it would be cheaper and folks could stop in on the way to the bigger rallies. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Bikeweek is on March 8-17. Easter is March 31. it might still be snowing for those who live up north, so maybe sometime in April would be better.. hint hint hint

Thunder Beach in panama City...15th Annual Spring: May 1st - May 5th, 2013. That's a wed thru Sun. If we had it on the 28th, 29th, and 30th (sun, mon, and tue) anyone who wanted to extend on in to Panama City would be right on target. Should be warmer by then, Sweetlu....hint, hint, hint.
I wouldn't mind seeing the opening day in PC. Never been to a BIG rally. I'm sure it don't get completely wild until the weekend. Might even want to stay longer....ya never know!

I'll start scouting (with flyer456's help) for a decently priced spot with room to party outside, close to or on the beach. Then I can go to google and find some interesting day rides with good places to eat along the way. What could be easier???

I was looking at motels/houses. As I don't expect a great number of people this first trip was looking at how cheap a house and private pool would be. Something that sleeps up to 8 ppl for about $200.00 per night. That's less then $30.00 a night per person. WOW! Views of the beach, a pool and covered parking! Just a thought. Still looking, not yet booking but a lot of places are already booked from wed on.

The fall '11 rally, the wife and I stayed at a place right next to Lavela that a guy I know has. He rented it out to me for cheap.
I checked regular prices and they were 80 bucks a unit. I cant remember the name but I will find out. It wasnt 5 star but it worked. I dont mind camping (the good wife doesnt) but that may be an option. (a little cool in april at night, though) |
