Tom, I was thinking of staying at the Inn for those three days kinda like the base camp after a full day of riding the area.

Just to respond to a few ?s that were brought up.

Perhaps 5-6 days is too much, but my preference is too ride the entire Skyline and BRP, safely. Never rode on those roads before and since my big trip last year, I've come to enjoy and absorb/soak-in as much of our beautiful country has to offer. Sometimes life has to be enjoyed at a slower pace at times, and these are one of these moments, so for me there is no rush.

In addition, I do want to ride the roads around the Smokeys, I've heard there is incredible riding in the area and would like to experience it, hence why the three day stay at the AppleCover Inn.

I've done the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway, but I'm willing to ride it again so that others who haven't can get that opportunity, I understand, it's kinda like checking off an item from your bucket list.

Anyway, feel free to comment, seriously. Do we all need to ride at the same time, no, we can ride in different groups to different locations, and that is OK. Do we all need to stay in the same motel, not really, perhaps you want to camp, or stay at a friends house, and that is cool. Do we all need to ride the same number of days or timeframe, of course not. We all have different amounts of allocated vacations days and when we can take those days off, for me, if we can only meet for lunch on one particular day, that would be great because meeting our fellow brothers and sisters for a few hours is better than none at all.

like your logic lu...life today is too much of a rush and supposedly one of the reasons we ride is to forget about time and savior every moment we can while out on the road...understandable too that the luxury of unlimited vacation days only comes when we retire so one has to pick and choose. Unfortunatelty the week you are planning this falls on the same week as the Maybay so sorry to say I won't be able to join you guys. Shame too, it would have been fun doing this w/you guys. Looks like I'll hold to my original plan of the first week in june. Looking forward to reading about your journey.

Same here over in Sevierville TN. If things do work out for you all to be here around Memorial Day, there is a pretty big ride leaving out of Sevierville and goes up to Veteran's Overlook on Clinch Mountain (about 60 miles away towards Cumberland Gap - really nice ride). Here's the link for that ride if interested Smoky Mountain Thunder

OUCH Ron!! ... That hurt .
But, I guess that pulling into the parking lot where we met you last year for the BCR3 trip, a couple hours behind Bob Penn, gave you that impression?
But with my "squirrel size bladder", I know every rest stop along the way, .

Squirrel size bladder? More like an oak barrel!

Remember I've seen you drink wine.

A more believable excuse might be posting in the ladies room.

Bob Penn called me last night and told me about this trip all Y'all are trying to put together. I am looking forward to seeing all Y'all again and maybe meeting some VR brothers I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting before.
I haven't been on the site in a while, just too busy lately, but I do keep in touch with some via email and phone calls.
I am looking forward to your visiting this area and will try to get in as much time as I can with you while you are here.
Looks like the little visit from Tom and Mark is turning into another Yankee invasion .
Maybe you would like a southern hospitality "cook out" with some fresh possum, corn bread and butter milk? Let me know.
If so, you could pick some up on the way down the road.
Possum is that little flat animal that sleeps in the middle of the road .
I'll pick up a new grill for the occasion from the Wal Mart parking lot. .

Now Bob. Let's not hi-jack this thread and turn it into a "pick on Pop" thread.
