PNW Plundering The Peninsula, June 8-10, 2012

It's on...ever since the great Osoyoos Rally I've been ready for the next. How do you feel about a 3 day loop rolling rally of the Olympic Peninsula? On June 8-10 2012, we'll start in Poulsbo (meeting at noon) at the Wendy's by Walmart (21200 Olhava Way Northwest, Poulsbo, WA - at the SouthEast end of the parking lot). We're departing at 1PM, so if you plan to eat, plan the time for it. The first stop will be at the Lucky Dog Casino to meet with some "Southern" riders, then continuing on to Port Angeles. The next day we ride on down the West coast to Ocean Shores, and Sunday looping back towards Hood Canal, all while doing loop rides on each leg.

Friday nights' stay is at the All-View Motel in Port Angeles, Saturday at the Best Western lighthouse in Ocean Shores. I'm working on t-shirts and other stuff.

Friday June 8th
All-View Motel, Port Angeles
888-457-7779
Port Angeles Motel - All View Motel
Mention you're with the Volusia Riders to get the rates (all rates + tax, which are $20 off normal rates): $59 = 1 queen bed, $69 = 2 queen beds, $69 = 1 queen bed plus kitchen, $79 = 2 full beds plus kitchen, and $99 = 3 queen beds
This is a nice older style u-shape motel owned by Jeff and Traci. They're located real close to the entry to Hurricane Ridge. There are limited rooms, I'm the first to book a room (at all) for June 8th. But there are many that are 2-3 beds, and I know many of us are willing to put up with fellow riders for a night, right?
Reservations:
Spamcan & Scribbles (Dave & Suzanne) AV161213 Room 16

Shortfoots Dad (Cliff) AV22124 Rm # 22

Rooms range from $109 for "Dune view" to $119 for ocean view, different bed options for both. Like above, mention you're with the Volusia Riders Wescaleros for the discount. Kelly (the group agent) is also offering firewood for a beach bonfire and their catering services if we'd like to do that again.

Very cool, all are welcome! Hopefully we can encourage the "Wescalero elders and shaman" to take part and it could be an official tribal ride!

Early summer is always tougher than mid-late summer for me, but I'll do my best to be there.

Depending on the dates we will be in for sure. We are planning a trip in late May early June. Mid June works best for us. Is this going to be a camping or hoteling? Is it summer yet? (It is snowing right now here. First snowfall of the year.)

2011 to ? - Burgundy 2009 starting 6 kms (1 mile)
2006 -2011 - Silver and Grey 2006 - 60,000 kms (37,500 miles)

Subscribed. This is a ride I have wanted to do since living in Silverdale for a summer back in '98. June is tough for me, so I'll wait on the timing before I commit.

"What's the worst that could happen?"

Arrogant Bast*rds, it's how I ride.

This has yet to be "scheduled"...it's just in the "what do you think" stages. It was just suggested by a friend/fellow biker here in Kitsap (Tim) that it could be best before the summer rush. We could look at the end of summer too, but I'm not sure I can wait that long. Or maybe there would be availability mid-summer. This can be a camping and/or hotel situation. One location Tim mentioned on the coast has a hotel and camp grounds right next to each other.

I'm tempted to put a "vote" out there for when to do it. But I think the first things that should be done are:
1. Make sure there's interest (Yep, cross that one off)
2. Vote for hotel only, camping only, or hotel and camping (this could affect where to stay, and it may be hotel only one night and the option the next, or something like that)
Then...
3. Locate places to stay and use their summer knowledge of availability to see if/when we can get in. (And do they like motorcyclists?).

So please sound off on the camping/hotel debate. I'll await the votes through next Wednesday, then start working on locations to stay per the votes. If you have suggested locations (hotels, campgrounds, friends house, outhouse, etc), please add that as well.
