Exclamation RIP Victory?

Just saw this on Facebook:

"Over the past 18 years we’ve created, built and grown Victory Motorcycles into a great American motorcycle brand. All of which, couldn’t have been done without you, the owners and fans. You’ve put your heart and soul into Victory Motorcycles and we’re extremely proud to be a part of that family. All of this makes it hard to share that over the next 18 months we will be winding down the Victory Motorcycles brand. We will be supporting you, our owners, over the next 10 years for parts and service.
It has been an honor to #RideOne with you."

I suppose it makes more business sense to compete against other manufacturers than it does to compete against yourself. GM did it when they discontinued Pontiac and Oldsmobile, Ford killed off Mercury, Chrysler axed Plymouth etc. Certainly not good news for the many Victory fans. Only hope the Indian brand has something in the offering for them.

Cheers.

I'd rather be seen and not heard than heard but not seen.

I feel bad for their Victory-only dealers. Will they all be offered Indian franchises? I kinda doubt it, and in any case there's a big slice of Victory's customer base that can't afford the premium price of the Indian line. I would suppose those folks would migrate to H-D.

Sad to hear that. I'm not a fan of the Victory look, but at least it was unique and didn't look like every other cruiser on the road. That really sucks.

Well....

Maybe someone will come along and buy the Victory line? That is if it is even a possibility. Doubt it. That would be instant competition.

It's a shame. They seemed like decent bikes. I was considering upgrading to a Cross Country. Oh well.
Hopefully Polaris will find work for those affected.

This surprises me because they were doing some innovative things with electric, Pike's Peak runs, and other things. And there's a pretty substantial product line.
