2,253.7 miles in 5 days of riding - from below nashville to new orleans, following the coast to corpus christi to san antonio, home thru arkansas.
Was a good ride, but also a very boring ride. From N.O. on, as far as you can see is nothing but flat. Bike ran great, probably ended up averaging around 43 mpg (speed limit was pretty much 75, I was usually going around 70. Got caught in what the locals called a northerly in Port lavaca. Waited for about an hour to see if it would slow down, but then had to get going. Fortunately it only took about 25 minutes to drive thru it. I later found out it was 40 mph wind gusts. Pummeling rain and nary a thing to slow down the wind. There was 4 or 5 times where I really had to fight the wind to keep from being blown off the road. Obviously very, very happy when I got thru it. Surprised me as I was just wearing frogg toggs, but the only thing that really got wet were my feet - I will be looking for a better boot. I must say that with the mustang seat and backrest it was a very comfortable ride. I never got "sore" and was always ready to go the next day. Glad I went as it will probably be gone before too long, but I will stick to the mountains. Think I will take a trip to west virginia next month oh, the only thing that broke was my cigarette lighter. I have the chrome kuryakyn power point that mounts on the handlebars. I just swung by an autozone and picked up a replacement lighter. Besides that, bike did great

Sounds like a rough ride with the weather. Glad it turned out ok.

Sounds like a terrific time, outside of being bored, which I totally understand: that and the wind.
Glad you had a safe time!
