Default lessons learned in the saddle....

Maybe this has been done, but what is some good info you have learned from riding your motorcylce, that you would not have known otherwise? it could be simple pracitcal, philosophical, whatever.

a few from me:

Always enjoy the ride! the fastest path is not always the best path.

Semi's/big trucks leave a wake of debris that hurts you, paint, anything around them....stay back/pass 'em quick!

i can live out of 3 cubic feet of room for a week at a time (thank you, saddlebags!)

Riding along the coast through salty, ocean air is worth 6 figures of therapy!

more as i thinks of them, hit me with some of your own!

Yes it has I guess ........... What Did You Learn Today? ..........but lets continue on.

I found out first hand how easy it is to drift into the wrong lane if you don't keep focused on the curve. A lot of curves are not constant throughout the length of it and can progressively get sharper as you get into them. Not the place to be sight seeing!!

I like sitting beside the tractor trailers. It pisses them off.

Default You are not indestructable

You are not indestructable! You are mortal! Enjoy now not later, you might not get there!

When a vehicle equal to you or larger moves into you space, move out!

Nothing beats the feeling of finding an abandoned gas station seconds before the skies open up from the thunderstorm you have been trying to outrun for the last 30 minutes. That and having hot coffee in your thermos would be heaven.

You do in an emergency what you have practiced, not what you think you will do. Practice emergency stops and swerves now and then so that you have muscle memory going into a panic stop or swerve.

Good riding friends are as hard to find as a good wife. Cherish both. If they are one in the same, even better.

if it starts raining, even if you have rain gear, pull over for 15 minutes to make sure the top layer of oil is washed off the road first. Then you might be shocked at the traction a wet surface provides after the oil is gone.

Always pee before you leave!!

There is what I call the "rocking chair". Traffic seems to move in clusters. A group of cars and trucks will travel down a highway together there is nothing in front of them and nothing behind them. That's the "rocking chair" and that's where you should ride!
