Now ain't that the truth. I can recall there was this big honkin' 750 sitting in the show room that I had drooled over but couldn't afford to buy. A 750...Wow! That's huge.

Still, a lot of motor in my book though, especially in two stroke form...good torque at the bottom lots, more reserve at the top than the V2's being stuffed into everything these days...were just jetting warmed up where our "big" V's are starting to run out of breath.

Yup, it was a LOT of fun. I had mine up past the buck a few times, tach was pegged, the motor was screamin like it was about to fly apart at any moment, had lovely thick blue clouds pourin from the stacks....fun friggin bike! Nothing compares to an inline two-stoke when it comes to s**ts and giggles.

Quite a few of my old friends still have that perception LOL. But the older inline bikes like the Honda 550, 650, and 750's had a lot more horsepower than today's twins of the same size. My wife and I rode 2 up on that CB 650 all over the PNW, plenty of guys were riding the CX 500's (50hp) and it was even offered in a Interstate package. I think most people have just gotten spoiled by all the big bikes that are offered today (and why not?). What were the big bikes in those days? Harley 80, Goldenwing 1000, KZ1300, Honda CBX 1000 ? And insurance was a big reason I chose the CB 650, anything 750 and bigger was prohibitive insurance wise for a young broke married man in the early 80's. With the C50T I feel like I am living the high life today

We must be the same age. I vividly remember my insurance costing nearly as much as my payment. Seemes like for every cc they added fifty cents to the policy.

Year 1978, I owned a 1975 350 Nova LN coupe. 2 wreckless driving tickets in 6 months made matters worse. I told both cops that doing burnouts and drifting (we called it sliding sideways back in those days) was NOT wreckless. I even hired a lawyer for the 2nd one.
I'm not kidding, I would get cold chills down my back at the sight of the word insurance.
