I have been using a 3/4 helmet but as cold weather has approached, with the addition of my new heated gear, the only part of my body that was getting chilly or cold was my face, so thought it was time for a new helmet.
I wanted a modular and spent a very, very long time trying to figure out what I wanted to get. No good places to look locally and was doing my research online. Sooooo may varied opinions on prettty much all of the helmets I could afford as I don't really have a Shoie budget. Ended up deciding on a Gmax GM54S for $129.00 with free shipping. Most people seemed to really like them, it had the built in sunshade I wanted , everyone seemed to agree that it had great ventilation, and another feature I liked, the built in light on the back of the helmet. My current helmet is an XL. I measure my head and it was like 22 1/2 - which according to all of the charts meant a Medium helmet should fit me.... I like them snug, but not tight, but my current helmet was an XL....... Taking a chance, if I was wrong I would have to pay the return shipping, I order the helmet in the Platinum color to sort of go with my bike, in a size Large. The UPS guy dropped it off at my house at 8 PM....... Opened it up and imo, is a really good looking helmet. I really like the platinum color. Apprehensively I put the helmet on and.........a perfect fit. I guess it is because tho my head is kind of small, I have a fat face. I had just got back from a bike ride, so will test it out tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed that it will be a fairly quiet helmet and I can stop having to wear ear plugs. I'm glad it fit you but I think you got kinda lucky.
I find that helmets are like shoes ............... better try them on as everyone seems to have their own way of sizing for some reason. Are your ear plugs custom or generic? I had ear plugs made and I can say the money was worth it! I don't wear them all the time but when I need them they're great.

Custom Molded Ear Plugs - Gander Mountain For about $15 you can custom mold your own. It's a two part putty that you mix and form into your ear, then wait 10 min and peel out. You can stuff a knotted cord into each if you want your ear plugs connected to keep from losing them. I made some when I had the un-baffled Cobra's on my bike and they worked great. Use them at the range too.

you lucked out..good for you...crap shoot buying anything one wears by mail... especially helmets...but f the savings are significant, I guess paying the return shipping still makes it cost effective... enjoy the new helmet. I went this year to pretty much riding with my 3/4 year round and found myself utilizing my shoei full face flip only when rain was in the forecast...had one of those nylon face masks and found them to be very effective in keeping me warm... came across a fleece baclava also at Ocean State Job Lot the other day that was selling them for under $10...picked one up as a spare and looked forward to see how it works probably this weekend when riding home from work. Ride safe and stay warm.

1st, the helmet. Just got back from riding, I love it. To be fair, I have always wore <$100 helmets so I do not really know how a real nice helmet would be, but I would have been happy with this if I had spent $200 instead of $129.00
It is actually quieter than my <$100 3/4 helmet with the chin guard up. I could see riding long distances and not be bothered if I did not have any ear plugs. Ironically tho, wind noise wide, while not bad at all, it seems pretty much as quiet with the chin guard up than down. I have read comments about it and playing around with the vents. I am obviously very, very happy with it and for that price, personally think it is a no brainer. Will obviously have to see how it holds up, but for now I think it is a great bargain. Plus on cooler/cold days, will be way warmer. I am now good to go no matter the weather - and believe me when I say I ride my bike everywhere.

Revzilla offers 1 time free return for different size helmit. I bought a Noland 90 modular. Fits just fine. I wear it without the face shield as I sit behind a windshield. Sometimes I forget to close it.

Congrats...I got lucky as well with my Gmax 3/4 and love it! Hands down it's become my favorite and most comfortable helmet. BUT...I have found that most of the manufacturers run small, including Gmax. The ONLY one I found that not true with so far is HJC (which I have a couple of).
I bought my Gmax from Value Accessories which not only had competitive prices, but knew the product line well. I talked with Theresa over there about it before I bought it and she was spot on with her sizing & color descriptions. She uses one too I guess. I have several places around here I can buy helmets from, but every single one of them is about 15%-30% more expensive than identical models online and they won't price match...not to mention not one of them carries GMax.
