Default Trading for a BMW // Hopefully//

Well i found a guy selling or trading a 2002 BMW R1150R locally and offered to trade my Bobber for it. Believe it or not, he is seriously considering it. What do you guys think? Would it be a good trade for me or for him? Thanks

Hard to say. Depends on how good a condition his is and how good yours is. What do you know about the bike? If you don't know much the phrase "believe it or not" raises some red flags.

as already stated, take it and run. BMW's are great bikes. Only "down side" is they are pricey when it comes to parts etc
Worse comes to worse, without checking prices, I would guess the BMW is worth more than the suzuki, even bobbed out and would be an easy bike to re-sell.........

edit - just went to the link provided......seems like a great price on that to me at $4675.00.
If I could ride that type of bike, I would trade in a heartbeat.........if I could ride that type of bike, I would not think twice about spending the $4675 and it would be in my driveway

My riding friend had an R1100 - was a very reliable bike and was just as at ease on the highway or the mountain roads....plus he got great gas mileage....45-50 mpg. He would get gas once tio my every 2 times.
They are a tad top heavy with the bigger gas tank, but nothing an experienced rider can't handle.

Looks like an overgrown mutant Vespa.

Probably a fun bike to ride hard though, and like all things German probably overbuilt to a fault (dam near indestructible but heavy as he!!).

interesting choice...mileage seems good for a 10 year old bike...and knowing how anal BMW owners are about their rides...shows nice...good luck.

Man I had an R1150R and SteveG is still ridin it... and I miss that bike every day. My current daily ride is an R1200GS

The R1150R is a great bike, maintenance is easy and parts are not expensive. Mechanics are, though... so be ready to do some of your own work. The R1150R is about 60 times the bike your VOlusia is... so If you haven't ridden a superish kind of bike before take it easy at first. 0-100 speed is about 9 seconds faster than your vol . And it won't feel like you're going 100. And its about 200 pounds lighter than your typical 1100 CC bike. Performance will exceed your expectations wildly. The R1150R does handle better than even a Japanese sportbike. Just look where you want the bike to go and lean. Then hit the throttle.... instant reward.

I have over 450,000 miles on BMW motorcycles and I have yet to be stranded. Its the best thing I can say about a machine

and at 65,000 miles the motor is barely broken in. I turned over 40,000 miles on my GS and it is just starting to peak nicely.
