available money usually is the biggest determing point for many I'm sure... one of those just bundle up a little more options...although in your locale... s.c, I 'd probably be doing the same as you and just keep an eye on ebay or the swap meet here.. or consider perhaps...

Hmmm, everyone has personal comfort zones. 43 degrees to me is still Spring riding Never had heated gear and I personally don't need it. Especially on the Nomad, I have larger lowers I designed, bar chaps and a windshield which makes it very comfortable to ride. The bar chaps help keep the heat near me and help with feet warmth. I rode to work all last week, by the end of the block I had my visor up on a 3/4 helmet and my leather jacket unzipped It was in the mid-20's all week in the morning. I rode down in the teens before on the VOL will be no problem on the Nad, engine heat is much more. I stop when there is ice and snow, cold is not a factor. (then again, I do keep my thermostat at home set at 60 degrees )

Thats what I like to hear . I rode all year round last year. Plan to do it again this year . Past week I rode into work at 28 degrees. Ride home heated up to 40.
It's only a 30 min. ride but it's still enjoyable.
Insulated chaps or else my leather chaps, insulated Element jacket and my Gmax modular helmet, heavy gauntlet gloves.
Wish I could find size XXXlg electric gloves ,I have poor circulation in my fingers so I do have a problem with them getting cold.

wellllll, I bought the synergy 2 leather gloves from motorcycle superstore and they did have those in 3x xl. I normally wear an xl glove tho and needed to go to a 2xl for these, so still may be too small for you
Couple of things tho......
1st - man are they expensive. I normally do not spend that kind of money on something like this but I was outfitting myself for any weather driving and splurged. Did I say man are they expensive ?
2nd - Did I mention they are really expensive ? I wanted the synergy 2 so I could just plug them into my liner and not have wires everywhere. The textile are like $20 cheaper, but I figured if I am spending that much, may as well spend the extra $20 for leather, waterproof etc......
But the big questions is - are they worth it ?
I would not think twice about the jacket liner and, actually, now I think of it as just as crucial as my backrest, will never not have one again.
The gloves - I am not 100% sure I would do that again. Did I mention they are expensive ? ......heated or not, I can say they are the nicest gloves I have ever put on my hands. Especially for cool/cold weather riding, I love the way they come way up the sleeve because cold air will not find it's way in that way.....plus if it rains, my hands will no doubt stay nice and dry.
BUT.......they are cold weather gloves. When it warms up, I doubt I will wear them. Actually I am still in the market for heated grips.
There are obviously huge advantages with heated gloves, but where I like heated grips are on the days where it just gets cool out, but not cold enough for the heavy gloves. I have used heated grips in almost summer before.....I won't be wearing gloves and after dark, going from say the low 80's or so down to the 60's, with the big temp swing it just feels cool and I may turn on the grips (low of course). There are just many a day where I prefer not to wear a heavier glove, or liners, but a tad bit of warmth on the hands feels good.
When I bought the gloves, I justified it to myself thinking that by the time I bought heated grips and some decent gloves, I would almost have that much in it anyway........I knew better but was just trying to justify it.
That being said...it is the best pair of gloves I have ever put on and will ever own. They do keep the hands warm, but they do not get anywhere near as hot as the jacket does (at least my pair doesn't). they keep the hands warm tho, so they do work.
Right now I think of them as a luxury item that I am not sure I would purchase again, but I have no doubt the 1st time I am on the road for a long ride and it is in the 30's or low 40's, I will be tickled pink I have them.
But did I mention they are really expensive........

Ha,ha, Yeah I wonder are they a little expensive?? I've looked . I think I've seen those gloves and the reviews worried me because they said they ran small. I have tried some triple xlg that have ran small! **** big hands ! A friend said to try a pair of mittens,I know mittens keep your hands a lot warmer, but I don't know about operating all the buttons, switches on the bike with mittens ??
Has anyone tried wearing mittens?

I ran across these and thought they looked pretty interesting. You may lose the cool factor of riding a bike, but personally I would rather have warm hands......I obviously do not need them now, but if I did not have the gloves, I probably would have picked up a pair. Price is right anyway.
I think I would like that I could wear thinner gloves as my hands only get cold when moving......

Hopefully they would be fairly easy to take on and off....

I'm able to ride in 40 degree weather with just thermal underwear, jeans and a leather jacket. Windshield and lower of coarse. I get a little cold, but not too bad. I can ride with work, so I'll be on and off the bike, only 20 to 30 minutes at a time. Not in a 60 mph wind for hours.

I got caught in a shower last year in the mid-40s and that was awful. Won't let that happen again.
