Default Dang! Bike is down.

Looks like the bike is going up on the lift for a week. I had planned on putting a new tire on soon, as some of you know (don't start!). Since it has 34K on it now I figured it's time to pull and lube the drive shaft and swing arm bearings. The rear brake felt a little mushy so, hey, why not change all the hydraulic fluids too. Just when I was trying to figure out when I wanted to do all this it started pissing water out of the overflow tube. I realized the fan wasn't coming on. Probably a bad fan switch.
Looks like the bike is saying now. RIGHT NOW...is a good time.
Dang, the forecast for next week is mid 70's and sunshine!

Bill isn't it always mid 70s and sunny in Arizona? Hope you get her all straightened out right quick. Ride safe.

Very wise Bill, I always try to listen to what my bike is trying to tell me too. There's a lot of satisfaction in knowing that you've maintained your machine well, even if it costs you a few riding days.

Bill, could it be the seal behind the water pump. Just had mine done. Found info out on the Vulcan Forums which I see you on.

In an effort to get a longer lasting tire I'm going to do something radical.
Got one of these on order.

I'm pretty sure it's a bad fan switch or fan because it only pisses out water if it gets hot from idleing at a standstill for a long time. When it does get hot the fan doesn't come on.
Just so I know...what kind problems do you see when the water pump gasket goes bad?

Bill, good luck with the new tire. I think there's a website for those.

It's easy enough to test the fan - just jack in 12 volts DC to its plug and see if it kicks on.
