Default Enjoy riding...for me

There is this story that the man with no shoes stopped complaining when he saw the man with no feet.

Well, I can't ride now because I have cervical spinal stenosis. Basically what that is is I have a bone spur in my neck along with a bulging disc along with the narrowing of my spine.

It is frustrating to see nice days go by and knowing I can't ride.

I'm going to a Dr. next Monday and Tuesday to see what can be done to help me.

So please remember me as you ride and remember no matter how bad things might be for you right now that there is someone who just wishes he could just ride again.

I have the same thing between C-4 and C-5.

Been getting cortizone shots in the spinal cord just below the base of the neck for about 6 months now.

I have to say I didn't have a lot of confidence in the procedure, but I'm about 70% better and it certainly makes riding much more comfortable.

I hope you get better & get the green light the doctor soon ! For what it's worth I 'am not currently riding either . I have been down going on month # 4 now. So hang in there your not totally alone .

I have already started a mini welcome back road trip for myself ,when I get to ride again. It doesn't help me now , just gives me something to look forward to .

One of the reasons I ride. For those who are not riding.

Not sure what I had, but I had spinal fusion in my late 30s, C4-C5-C6. I'm convinced I carried a lot of stress in my neck, drank too much, and probably worked out the wrong way. The pain was enough too, lets just say, to end it. After the surgery, like a switch was turned off. Of course did all that crap before, therapy and drugs and cortizone injections, as wall as accupuncture (which did take the pain away but of course couldn't cure the physical damage in my neck).

Best of luck to you. I know about 5 people with similar surgeries. All successful and the only way to go. But there's always risks.

I know what your going through. I just had the 2 discs at c-4 c-5 and c-6 removed and the vertebrae fused on Jan 4. Still have some pain but it's 90% better

[QUOTE=maverickman;1887252]There is this story that the man with no shoes stopped complaining when he saw the man with no feet.QUOTE]

My dad said that to me quite often when I was a young boy. I remember one day in 1971 we were riding in his Lincoln about to get on the interstate. He has just said the above statement. 10 seconds later there was a man sitting on a scateboard with no legs trying to hitch a ride. Talk about bringing it home. Dad gave lots of rides to men, but only if they were wearing military clothing. Dad served in 101st airborne.

I hope you get better soon Maverick. An inversion table made me feel 30 years younger. I'm 51 and a half y/o.

I hope you get well soon Maverickman. It sucks when a rider can no longer ride because of health reasons, but often times they can get back in the saddle on a trike. Something to think about for the future, if need be.
