Smile One word... kuryakyn

I jsut got done installing some kuryakyn pegs, I would have installed a brake cover too, but they sent the wrong one. They sent the 8857, when I wanted the 4029. Um, just double checking, hte c-50 t will have the same brake as the vol right?

Found a good deal at the Suzuki dealer for the CBT600 Nelson Riggs luggage set with the barrel bag. They matched the internet pricing. That is a great piece for the money. Has good construction, sturdy, and is expandable. I'm tying up some loose ends to get away for our annual 2 week winter ride.

Am waiting for Jim's Spacers in the mail this week and a new chrome brake reservoir cover. Put a new steel front brake line on last week and rear shoes.

4 weeks from today, we will drive our truck, carry the bike, to LA, park it at family's home in Santa Clarita Valley, and ride north on PCH to beyond SF and return to LA. Ride for up to 8 days. Weather permitting, mix of cabin and tent camping with a motel thrown in there every couple of days.

Rode both to warm up the chain, then lubed them.

Did some custom LED tail light add-ons to my saddle bags. See the link to another page: Tail-lights-oem-bags

Installed the Gman Bully Controller and OEM Tach I picked up from Redfire 05GT. (BTW both were in excellent shape). Biggest challenge was getting the darn gas line clip off the bottom of the tank and then figuring out where the FI connections were . Thank goodness for the search bar and previous posts.

For the tach. I used piggy back connecors on the the ignition coils and soldered most other connections including the dual fire to single fire adapter. The connections for the Bully where straight forward once I found the injectors on the throttle body.

The tach works well . Just very very slight needle bounce on idle only. I wouldn't have even noticed it but I read it was a concern for many .

The bully is working fine according to the instructions but I cannot comment on performance of the bike yet. I haven't had a chance to try it out on the road and I am not sure how to set it yet. I only have the Honest Abe mod and stock filter and air box. Gonna read up on that next. I think I need to set it to stage 2.

Praying for warm weather .

Installed Jim's 2 inch riser spacers. Felt I was reaching a little while riding with the stock set up and my back was not completely against the backrest.

Now,with the spacers, it feels much better. Still have to adjust the exact resting point for the handlebars. May have to tilt drop them just a fraction or so due to the new height.

Now on to another small project. One of the brackets on the Shark speaker broke. Not the Kuryakan handlebar clamp, the one that is attached to the back of the speaker that bolts to the handlebar clamp. Looks like I will have to mod something from pot metal. It developed a hairline crack from vibration over thousands of miles. And eventually broke through recently.

Any ideas? Or has someone delt with this issue yet?

****Got it fixed. Home Depot had a hanger bracket that I was able to cut down, drill new holes and make it work****

RV.

Put some scratches on the side of my windscreen Took it out for a run into the next town. Let it idle in the driveway while I put on my helmet and jacket and was closing the garage door when out of the corner of my eye I watched it slowly go down. Didn't do any real damage other than put some scratches on the left side of the windscreen, glad I put on those crash bars. Frustrating but nothing that the local glass shop can't buff out (hopefully).

Took advantage of cyber Monday and ordered smooth face Pro one risers with black tachometer for $227 from Phat Performance Parts an item I have been thinking about for some time. My wonderful wife insisted I finally buy it.
